About

“Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife.”

― Kahlil Gibran

Jon Wollenberger is a drummer, composer, and bandleader whose music reflects a deep and personal journey across genres and geographies. Originally from the United States, Jon grew up near Chicago and has lived in Boston, Florida, and now resides near Basel, Switzerland. His sound—rooted in jazz but infused with a broad palette of global influences—draws from years of immersive study in both Western and Indian traditions.

After spending six years living in India, where he studied tabla and classical Indian music, Jon shifted his focus to studying jazz, bringing with him a rhythmic depth and melodic sensibility that continues to shape his compositional voice.

His debut album "Home", released on November 9, 2024, introduced audiences to his reflective, folk-tinged approach to modern jazz.

His follow-up record, There And Back Again, arriving on September 21, 2025, expands on that foundation with a broader sonic scope and a deeper engagement with storytelling through sound.

Jon leads his ensemble with sensitivity and imagination, blending jazz improvisation with the textures of folk, blues, and Indian music. His work speaks to the spaces between cultures and the inner landscapes we carry with us—always searching, always listening.
